San Juan Islands, Washington 2008-Present
This remote complex is located in the San Juan Islands of Puget Sound, Washington. All the materials have to be shipped in by barge and brought up a trail to this steeply wooded site. This series of finely crafted light wood pavilions include a cabin, sauna, outhouse, and tent platforms, all meant to tread lightly on the landscape with minimal site and foundation work. The use of regional wood is prevalent and its expression is delicate and refined, but also detailed to ensure maximum durability.
